Our farm in Monkokehampton is one of only a few bio-dynamic farms in Devon. The farm is in its second and final year or conversion.  Bio-dynamic agriculture is a more sustainable way of farming than general organic methods.  Various preparations and composting techniques are used to improve soil fertility and health of the crops, as well as the farm in general. We sow our seeds using the cycle of the Moon to improve crop vitality and taste, for more details on planting by the moon we recommend a calendar produced by Maria Thun.

Planting by the Moon has been a success again.

All our crops have done really well again.Were positive it is just  from using the biodynamic calendar. We have also gone on to study biodynamics a bit more. I (Stephen) have been on a training course organised by the Bio Dynamic Association, It was really good and I have learn't so much from the course. We now have a good basic knowledge of how the whole concept of biodynamics work, and are looking forward to putting these in practice.

Biodynamics is a lot more than just using the calendar, but we all have to start somewhere. I would definitely recommend this course (biodynamic farming and gardening course) to anyone interested in biodynamics.
